Youth/Fuel Week 2008
and the Global Youth Evangelism Offering

Over the years, congregations in the Church of the Nazarene have observed NYI’s Youth Week (now Youth/Fuel Week) by hosting weekend Youth revivals, unique midweek experiences, retreats, dinners and meals, Friday night activities, and special services on Global Youth Evangelism Offering Sunday to commemorate the importance of Youth. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every Local Church would spend an entire week focusing on their Youth? Just imagine the results!

Each year the Church of the Nazarene proclaims a full week as “Youth/Fuel Week”. That tradition continues in 2008 with the Youth/Fuel Week and the Global Youth Evangelism Offering. Many Churches choose to hold this event the week before Ash Wednesday; however; if there are dates that are more appropriate for your Church, you may change the dates as needed. Regardless of the date, NYI is seeking 100% participation in every Nazarene Church. This year, let’s celebrate the Youth of the Church, not just on the weekend, but throughout the entire week!

Some Churches might want to rearrange the midweek service to focus on Youth. Others might hold special Youth Dinners or invite each Youth to a member’s home for a special meal. Let’s all join together to do as much as we can to let Nazarene Youth know how much the Church loves them and cares about their lives. NYI believes that Youth Week can be an event that changes the hearts of thousands of Youth, drawing them closer to Jesus and the Church.

It is our prayer that Youth/Fuel Week 2008 will be a landmark event in every Nazarene Church. More than just an ‘annual obligation’, we want it to be a week that will launch the Local Church into an inter-generational ministry, joining the elderly and Youth hand in hand for the cause of Christ. Our desire is that Youth/Fuel Week will involve the entire Church - children, Youth, and adults of all ages in a variety of activities. We want to celebrate our Youth and the amazing work that God is doing in and through them. We also want to recognize their contributions to, and their position in, the local body of believers.

To help you with your preparation for Youth Week, a Youth Week Lesson and a Youth Week Devotional set have been created and translated into English, French, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. These files can be downloaded by clicking on one of the language links.

Other materials for use in the USA, have been created under the name of Fuel Week, but are available in English only. They can be downloaded from the Fuel web site. In the USA, Fuel Week is held annually the week before Ash Wednesday so the dates for this year are January 28 – February 3, 2008.

We also have some free promotional materials for Annual Youth Evangelism Offering. You can find electronic versions of posters, flyers, and bulletin inserts. Simply download the files, open them on your computer, and print them out or use them in your favorite publishing software to generate exciting customized materials for your Church using your dates and information.

Click Here for a suggested list of activities that you can use during the week. We know that some of these activities will not work in all Churches and cultures. We also know that you have many creative people in your Church who can plan and participate in activities and events they create on their own. The goal is for each Church to do as much as it can during the week to promote ministry to Youth. Please feel free to substitute, change, or alter any of these activities to fit your situation. No matter how your final plans end up looking, our prayer is that Youth/Fuel Week 2008 will breathe new life, revival, and vitality into your congregation!
